Reminder: Federal and Massachusetts Tax Filings and Payments Due By July 15th - June 14, 2020
In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service provided special tax filing and payment relief to individuals and businesses. The Massachusetts Department of Revenue later followed suit. In short, both federal and Massachusetts taxpayers were given (without penalty) until July 15, 2020 to file their 2019 tax returns and make any associated payment which would otherwise have been due on April 15, 2020. The July 15th deadline is also applicable to federal and Massachusetts Q1 2020 and Q2 2020 estimated tax payments (otherwise due April 15, 2020 and June 15, 2020, respectively).
We want to remind our clients that the July 15th deadline is quickly approaching, and that penalties and interest will begin to accrue on any unpaid tax balances as of July 16, 2020. If you have questions or concerns about filing your 2019 tax return or any payments due in accordance with the above, please do not hesitate to contact our office.
